Pittsburgh Zoning Districts - Intro
By Carolyn Ristau
Introduction
There are two preliminary questions to determine what zoning regulations apply to any project: what’s the use and what’s the zoning district. We previously explored tips and challenges regarding use in a series of posts. Now, we will take a dive into Pittsburgh’s zoning districts.
Every parcel within the city limits is located in a specific zoning district that sets the standards for uses, height, and density. Pittsburgh’s interactive zoning map can be used to identify which zoning district a parcel is in.
The regulations that apply to each district are spread throughout the code. We will spend the next several months coalescing and summarizing the requirements of each district.
